The Pythagorean letter chart
Western numerology uses the Pythagorean chart: each letter of the alphabet maps to a digit from 1 to 9, repeating across the alphabet. Only letters count — spaces, hyphens and punctuation are ignored.

A worked example
Take a made-up studio, “Northwind Studio”. N=5, O=6, R=9, T=2, H=8, W=5, I=9, N=5, D=4 for the first word, which sums to 53; S=1, T=2, U=3, D=4, I=9, O=6 for the second, which sums to 25. Together that is 78, which reduces 7+8 = 15, then 1+5 = 6. Northwind Studio is a “6”.

Two conventions matter. Master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are traditionally shown unreduced, because interpreters read them as intensified versions of 2, 4 and 6. And a name change — a rebrand, a trading name, an Ltd suffix — produces a different number, which is why numerologists treat naming as a decision rather than a formality.

What a name number cannot tell you
